While traveling in Italy, I came up with the idea for this website.
Italy is not in the forefront of accessible cities and wheelchair
accessible washrooms were not always easy to find. There aren't too
many travel books out there yet that mention places where we might
find accessible washrooms. Most disabled travelers with wheelchairs
can relate to this, I'm sure. So I started to make a list of
accessible washrooms I used during my travels.
I intend for this web page to be an ever-growing list of wheelchair accessible washrooms throughout the world, arranged by continent, then country, then city. And to clarify, as I know the term is used differently in many coutries, by "washroom" I mean "toilet".
But to do this, I need your help. Please let me know of
accessible washrooms that you may have encountered around the
world, including
your home town. Give as much detail as you can. As people in
wheelchairs have different ability levels, please include a
washroom that worked for you and mention that it may not be
suitable for all wheelchair users. For example, if you are able to
go into a washroom with a small step by yourself or with help,
mention it! But please mention that there is a step, etc. To make
this easier, I've set up a form for you to use to send me the
info.
